Three FACEMs recognised in 2024 King's Birthday Honours List
Three Fellows of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) have been recognised in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours List for their service to emergency medicine. Dr Paul Gaudry, Dr Richard Harrod and Associate Professor Anthony Holley were amongst the 737 Australians honoured in the 2024 list, announced by the Governor-General on 10 June, for their outstanding service and contribution to Australia.
FACEM Dr Richard Harrod OAM received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to emergency medicine. The Order of Australia is Australia’s recognition for outstanding achievement and service.
FACEM Associate Professor Anthony Holley AM was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant service to intensive care and emergency medicine.
FACEM Dr Paul Gaudry AM was also appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant service to emergency and forensic medicine, and to professional associations.
ACEM President Dr Stephen Gourley said, “These three recipients have each made enormous contributions to the field of emergency medicine, to medicine, public health and to ACEM. We are pleased to see their work recognised and congratulate them on this prestigious, and well-deserved, honour.”
The Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) said, “Through today's recognition we shine a light on their efforts, the impact they have and the difference they make. On behalf of all Australians, I thank recipients for their service and congratulate them on their recognition.”
Earlier this year, FACEMs Conjoint Associate Professor Sally McCarthy and Clinical Associate Professor Matthew Chu were recognised in the Australia Day 2024 Honours List, announced by the Governor-General on the 26th of January.
